Enough Already: The Arduino Solution to Overexposed Celebs via MAKE

With a bit of technical knowledge, a system has been hacked together to but the television on mute when a key name of an over-exposed celebrity (ie Kardashian) come up. The system doesn’t use voice recognition - it relies on the closed-captions (subtitles) feed, and once it has found one, the television mutes for 30 seconds. If that name is mentioned again in the caption feed, the timer is reset.
